About The Three Horseshoes

The Three Horseshoes has been on Pit House Lane, Leamside in County Durham for over 100 years. In times gone by it served a thriving mining community but has changed over recent years to be a popular destination food and real ale house.

We have invested heavily to improve the facilities with 5 new en suite bedrooms, a new restaurant, kitchen and toilets. There is ample car parking and two delightful garden areas for that al fresco occassion.

Affectionately know as ‘The Shoes’ by the locals, it is know for its freshly cooked food and quality real ales. The traditional bar with open fires is complemented by a comfortable restaurant at the rear known as the Back Room.

Food is served all day including Breakfast from a selection of menus to suit all tastes, appetites and budgets.

Not only are we the brewery tap for the Working Hand Brewery but work hard to source the very best of micro brewery real ales from across the country. All our fresh food is sourced from local butchers, bakers, fishmongers and fruit and vegetable wholesalers. We take pride in having over 15 times more fridge than freezer space and all food is freshly cooked and prepared on site.

We are passionate about the British pub and are proud to be a part of it - warm welcome awaits all. Our businesses have won many awards – most notably the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) North East Pub of the Year for an unprecedented 4 consecutive years. Praise in the local press rewards our staff for their hard work and a high level of customer loyalty makes it all worthwhile.
